Accessibility Statement
People often view certain factors such as technology, language, cultural background, geographic location and physical/mental aptitudes as barriers to accessibility.
Inconsiderate web design is the real barrier. Making Music: North East strives to create a site accessible to
all by:
- Including ALT tags for images meaning the site will still make sense to customers with images turned off and/or visually impaired users.
- Making the main use of images 'decoration' again for reasons similar to the point above.
- Allowing font size to be adjusted using your browser.
- Using Cascading Style Sheets for presentation to maintain a consistent look and feel. This improves usability especially for those with learning difficulties and separates content from display allowing users to easily manipulate its view.
- Not fully justifying text. Full justification causes word spacing to vary which can cause problems for customers with learning difficulties.
- Adhering to Web Standards resulting in:
- Simpler development and maintenance.
- Consistent look and feel across web browsers.
- Compatibility with future web browsers as they are built with these standards in mind.
- Faster download and rendering of a page.
- Simpler adaption e.g. printed pages from the site.
If you do experience any problems with site accessibility, or have any comments, please email us.
