This summer, community music and dance will be united in three celebratory events. The Big Busk will bring free performances by voluntary music and dance groups to public spaces – a high street, a bandstand and a shopping outlet village. Alongside the performances there will be free workshops for members of the public to try out music and dance.
There is a wealth of music and dance activity in the North East, and the Big Busk will celebrate all those who dance and make music purely for the love of it. Local areas will be brought to life as shoppers, workers and passers by enjoy live music and dance from local community groups. Whether it's a youth samba band, 'silver' steel panners or an enthusiastic folk group, the Big Busk will provide something for everyone to enjoy.
There will also be free drop in workshops for members of the general public to try out dance and get involved with music making. Led by experienced professionals, these workshops are a chance for children and adults to get involved and enjoy the experience of music and dance, whatever their age, experience or ability.
