The Samling Foundation, one of the country's leading arts and music charities, starts the New Year by bringing its acclaimed vocal Masterclass back to The Sage Gateshead and welcomes one of the world's most distinguished tenors.
Philip Langridge, a new member of Samling's growing Masterclass team, will be taking time out of his busy international schedule to join Scottish soprano Patricia MacMahon, two of the country's finest actors Barbara Leigh-Hunt and Richard Pasco, vocal consultant Paul Farrington and pianists Caroline Dowdle and Sophia Rahman.
Together they will be nurturing and inspiring six young emerging professional singers who have been chosen from around the world to take part - sopranos Norah King and Nicola Mills; mezzo-soprano, Rowan Hellier; tenor, Luciano Botelho; baritone, Nuno de Araujo Pereira and bass baritone, Ronald Nairne. These week-long masterclasses have for more than a decade provided a unique and vital link between established international artists and emerging young professional singers.
Don't miss the chance to watch the masterclass team work with the young singers to develop and refine their technique and performance skills on Wednesday 31st January 2007, 2pm - 5pm, in Hall 2 at The Sage Gateshead. You will be treated to an enjoyable and lively afternoon finding out exactly what it takes to become a professional singer.
Tickets cost £7 for the masterclass and are available from The Sage Gateshead box office: 0191 443 4661 or online at: www.thesagegateshead.org
