Foray into Folk - with Making Music and Folkworks
Presented by Making Music and Folkworks.
The Sage Gateshead
10 am - 5.30 pm
Open to players of around grade 5 or above who are comfortable reading music. Players of all orchestral / wind band / brass band instruments are welcome.
If you have ever wanted to have a go at folk music but didn't know where to start, this day is for you! The event is designed for players from a classical background to learn to play folk music.
The day will involve:
- full group sessions learning and playing a folk piece
- working in specific instrumental groups or sectionals to get inside the pieces and learn folk techniques
- building ceilidh bands in smaller ensembles of mixed instruments.
Notation will be used for a large part of the day, but we will also help you develop skills in playing without sheet music.
Cost: £26.80, senior £24.80, members of Making Music member groups £21.80, concessions £13.40.
Open to adults and young people aged 12 and over.
Let us take the fear out of folk!
