Workshop with the Durham Scratch Choir

North Road Methodist Church, Durham, 7.30 - 9.30 pm.

Join the Durham Scratch Choir in their 'Voices for Hospices' concert and workshops, singing a range of music including the first performance of a new work by Andy Jackson. Heaven Beneath our Feet is a collection of songs adapted from the words of Gerrard Winstanleyand using music from Playford's English Dancing Master. The work is lively and innovative.

Singers can sign up individually or in groups from other choirs to join the Durham Scratch Choir in this production.

Workshops will take place on Wednesday evenings:
16, 23, 30 September and 7 October.

Concert: Saturday 10 October, with a rehearsal from 2 - 6 pm at Elvet Methodist Church.

You can join in these workshops at any stage (there are no auditions) and if you are a confident sight reader can just come for the final rehearsal.

Each two hour workshop will cost £5. Proceeds will go to the Voices for Hospices Charity. Music will be available.

Sponsorship seminars - Durham

Making Music with the Sponsors' Club for Arts and Business

Learn from the experts how to attract business sponsors

Date: Wednesday 23 September and 7 October, 7 - 9.15pm
Please note you should ideally attend both evenings

Content: The workshops will include a Five Point Plan for obtaining and developing sponsorship, assessing your organisation and its needs, developing packages for sponsorship, researching potential sponsors, writing proposals and making a successful approach, as well as developing a good working relationship.

We recommend that two people attend from any one group if possible.

Venue: Durham Community Centre, North Rd, Durham, DH1 4SQ *
* Unfortunately this is not a fully accesible venue, although there is a stair lift. However, if you are interested please get in touch as there may be other seminars on offer soon.

Cost: £18 (Making Music members), £20 (non-members), both plus VAT

Making Music Conference: Working in Harmony

Making Music's conference this year will focus on the fundamental relationship between the Music Director of an amateur performing group and its managing committee.

The conference will be particularly relevant to music directors and delegates from choirs, orchestras and any other group that employs a music director.
