Durham Singers: Brahms 'Ein Deutsches Requiem'

Sunderland Minster, 7.30 pm

Brahms's German Requiem sets contemplative texts from the Lutheran Bible, searching out a message of affirmation and hope from its reflection on mourning. This performance offers a rare opportunity to hear Brahms' own intimate piano-duet version of the work, which highlights the beautiful lines of his choral writing. We are privileged to be joined by soprano Claire Weston who sings appropriate lieder by Brahms and Schumann in a first half which sets the tone for this chamber performance of the Requiem, including unaccompanied motets by Brahms.

Conductor: Julian Wright
