Opera Nova - Love, Sex and Death

Theatre Up-stairs Billingham, 7.30pm

Opera Nova is proud to present its new season; a semi-staged concert themed Love, Sex and Death. This common plot line across the operatic repertoire is one which audiences will thoroughly enjoy.

The bad girls and boys of opera show their wicked streaks as well as their romantic sides in excerpts from Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), the Coronation of Poppea (Monteverdi), Flight (a modern opera by Jonathan Dove), Bizet's Carmen. In part 2, extended highlights from Verdi's Macbeth bring stirring choruses to life and with the epitome of true evil in Lady Macbeth's stunning Sleepwalking aria.

Simply set and costumed we know audiences will enjoy some of the finest music written and for those new to opera be tantalised by the emotion and thrill.

Musical Director, Richard Bloodworth and accompanist Alison Gill steer the company through a wide range of styles to bring you an evening full of excitement and thrills with Love, Sex and Death.
