Making Music is the UK national federation of music societies representing and supporting amateur and semi-professional music groups of all genres. The North East region covers the counties of Northumberland, Durham, the authorities along the Tyne, the cities of Newcastle and Sunderland and the unitary authorities south of the River Tees that were formerly part of Cleveland.
A regional committee ensures that our member groups can make the most of their membership and flourish despite the many attractions of modern life that would seem to militate against the performance of live music. This website also includes news from Making Music:NE and forthcoming events listings. Members can keep track of local Training and Development outputs and opportunities. We very much welcome your feedback on this site and this will help us with future developments.
From the Tweed to the North Yorkshire Moors there are music societies to suit most tastes. Have a look at the societies and their events and discover what a fund of music is being produced in our region. Go and listen, or better still get involved.
