Darlington & the Dales Youth Orchestra is an independent youth orchestra for young people. It is a resource for young people, age 21 or less, who are performing at grade six, above or equivalent standard, are in part or full time education.

The Darlington Choral Society was born out of the Darlington Choral and Orchestral Association and has existed since the early 1900s. In 1970 the choir joined the National Federation of Music Societies, now known as "Making Music", and became the Darlington Choral Society.
